eLearning

Interactive eLearning authoring tools are quickly becoming the most important part of the instructional designer's playbook. I have a wealth of experience not only developing eLearning, but troubleshooting and managing eLearning lifecycle.

They say you never forget your first love, and Captivate was mine. I began my career tweaking, tinkering, and troubleshooting previously created eLearning modules in Captivate. Not long after, I began developing my own eLearning in the application, but have since moved on to different software as my company has evolved.

Articulate has become the new tool of choice for my team to generate our eLearning modules. As with some of the text and image tools I use, I have a preference for Articulate products, both Storyline and Rise, because of their ease of use and intuitiveness. I have worked on dozens of projects from inception to development with Articulate, including my first project in Rise where I created a microlearning module on the process of grading comic books.

Authoring tools are great, but in many cases they don't mean much without a powerful LMS to support them. This is where SAP SuccessFactors comes in. I have been working in SuccessFactors for five years, supporting eLearning, and ensuring the integrity of the system at my company. I grew to appreciate our LMS and how useful it is, after teaching myself to host my microlearning module on Amazon Web Service. Hosting a module on a site that was not an official LMS was a great learning experience to say the least.
